MARCH
17, 2007 – The Role of the U.S. in the Middle East

Please
join BIAHC at the Bainbridge Public Library (1270 Madison Ave.
N.) on Saturday, March 17, from 9 – 10:30 a.m. for
coffee, refreshments, a 30-minute video, and a Great Decisions
community discussion on this timely issue.
Great Decisions is a nation-wide, non-partisan program
of the Foreign Policy Association to broaden public involvement
with the most important foreign policy issues facing the United
States. For information, go to www.fpa.org
The March 17 topic is “The Role of the U.S. in the Middle East."
Although the U.S. will remain closely engaged in Iraq during the next
year, other factors have emerged to challenge stability in the region.
Iran's nuclear program, the outcome of the conflict in Lebanon, and
Israeli-Palestinian negotiations will all play a key role. How will
these issues shape the Middle East?
The discussion will be moderated by Bainbridge Island City Council Chair Christopher Snow.
Before retiring to Bainbridge Island in 1998, he was a Foreign Service
Officer working in Public Diplomacy for the U.S. Information Agency
(now part of the State Department) for 35 years. His posting included
Israel and Iran.
Great Decisions Briefing Book:
To assist with advance preparation, please review the relevant chapter
in the Great Decisions Briefing Book. Copies of the Briefing
Book are available at the Bainbridge Public Library, or can be
