THE 4TH ANNUAL CELLULOID BAINBRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL

IN BRIEF:

The 4th Annual Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival presents a free screening of exclusively Bainbridge Island films from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, at The Historic Lynwood Theatre, 4569 Lynwood Center Rd. N.E., Bainbridge Island. Information: (206) 842-7901;

Hollywood was once famously compared to a trip through a sewer in a glass-bottomed boat. Nonetheless, a lot of young Bainbridge Islanders are lining up at the dock these days, as evidenced by the number of student submissions in this year's Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival. And in an industry where you can be forgotten if you leave the room for the toilet (to expand the metaphor), Celluloid Bainbridge can be a comforting reminder that no matter how many distributors, agents, or other film festivals turn down your no-budget, guerrilla crew filmed, heart-felt masterpiece, your hometown fans want to see it.

The Fourth Annual Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival takes place Sunday, February 10, from 10 a.m. until around 8 p.m. at The Historic Lynwood Theatre, 4569 Lynwood Center Road N.E., Bainbridge Island. It's free, with donations gratefully accepted to help the Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council acquire its own Boxlight projector for community use. The festival is cosponsored by the Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council, The Historic Lynwood Theatre, Boxlight Corporation, Island Movies, Silver Screen Video, and Island Country Inn.

In addition to short features, documentaries, experimental works, and music videos from young filmmakers in film schools across the country or striking out on their own, Celluloid Bainbridge offers works by established filmmakers with local ties. Twenty-five entries will be shown, all either filmed on Bainbridge Island or featuring a past or present Bainbridge Islander in the cast or crew.

A schedule with films and filmmaker descriptions follows. A shorter version can be picked up at The Historic Lynwood Theatre, The Pavilion Cinemas, Island Movies, and Silver Screen Video, or by calling BIAHC at (206) 842-7901.
