CELLULOID 2004 ARCHIVE
6th ANNUAL CELLULOID
BAINBRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL
February 8, 2004
at The Historic Lynwood Theatre
The long awaited Bainbridge premiere of A Relative Thing,
the second full-length feature directed by Garrett Bennett and produced at the home-grown Hat Factory Studios, tops the marquee
at the sixth annual Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival.
Sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council, Celluloid
Bainbridge is an all-day festival of films and videos that were
either made on Bainbridge Island or feature a Bainbridge Islander
in the cast or crew. The festival's goal is to showcase Bainbridge
Island's film professionals and to provide a venue for emerging
filmmakers. This year's mix includes documentaries, shorts from
Bainbridge students in film schools around the country, works by
successful Bainbridge expatriate filmmakers, as well as several
entries that thus far defy description.
A Relative Thing, which made its world premiere in November
at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, is the story
of five estranged siblings whom an anticipated family death reunites
at their childhood home at Port Madison, Bainbridge Island. The
cast includes local actors Meredyth Yund, Jo Anna March, Nicola Carpi-Nelli, Tom Hillier, and Jennifer Jett.
The waterfront residence of John and Ann Powel is the setting for
the family home.
