IN THE CULTURAL LIMELIGHT

Bainbridge artist Gregory Glynn's wood and mixed media sculpture are exhibited in a solo show at Catherine Person Gallery, 319 Third Ave South, Seattle, through June 28. Glynn's work will also appear in the Outdoor Sculpture Invitational at Maryhill Museum in Goldendale, WA, May 10 to Oct. 31, 2008.

Bainbridge poet Janet Norman Knox won the Red Hen Press/Los Angeles Review Ruskin Prize of $1000 plus a trip to Los Angeles to read with Carolyn Forche and Paul Muldoon (New Yorker).

The Six Day Bicycle Races, a film by Bainbridge Islander Jeff Groman, owner of Classic Cycle, is touring eight cities around the world as part of the 2008 Bicycle Film Festival.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY


The 2008 Bainbridge Island Art Expo and Music Fest, August 1-3, seeks artists and musicians to exhibit and perform. The annual trade show & art sale features regional and local arts organizations as well as individual artists. This year, event includes vendor spaces for musicians and music organizations, artist and musician demos, with showcase musicians throughout the event. Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowships. Artist Trust seeks applications from individual generative artists for the 2008 Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship Program. Washington State Arts Commission is accepting applications for its Public Artist Roster of professional visual artists eligible for commissions of new work through the Art in Public Places Program. Selected artists will be qualified for state percent-for-art projects with budgets from $25,000-$300,000. Competition is open to artists in the Western U.S. Apply online at www.arts.wa.gov. Bainbridge Island Winter Studio Tour. Applications for 2008 Winter Studio Tour, which takes place December 5 - 7, are available July 1 and are due July 31. Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Call for New Artists. Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, a 60-year-old nonprofit gallery and arts organization, holds open juries for artists who interested in showing and selling their work in the BAC Gallery. BAC looks for Northwest artists whose work displays mastery of medium, contemporary style, and professional presentation. The BIAHC Public Art Committee is accepting resumes for potential temporary, part-time work involving the public art component of the Winslow Way Streetscape. Preferred experience includes a knowledge of public art selection process and project management experience with capital or public art projects.
