NEW! Call to Artists for 2010 Bainbridge in Bloom Poster Competition. Welcoming submissions of original art by residents of Bainbridge Island or the North Kitsap Peninsula, or who are connected to or inspired by these locales. 2D or 3D media, including previously published or exhibited material is acceptible, but must be suitable for poster format and be adaptable to creating effective marketing pieces. Artists may submit up to 10 pieces; 8x10 image size @ 300 DPI; viewable on MAC and PC platforms; submit as a JPEG on a labeled CD (CDs will not be returned); pre-approve color, size, and quality of each image; print each file for proof and label with title, size of original, and medium; include a short bio, 1-page resume, list of submitted pieces and cover letter; include name, address, contact information on all documents. Virginia Mason Winslow invites Bainbridge artists to display their work. Patients and staff will be able to enjoy different art styles, and the art will contribute to the healing environment by adding visual interest and beauty. Hundreds of people pass through the facility each week, which provides a wonderful sales and exposure opportunity for the artist. Art will rotate on a quarterly basis. NEW! West Side Story auditions with Bainbridge Performing Arts will be held February 22 & 24. Rehearsals are June-July with performances in July and August. Those auditioning are requested to prepare one 1 to 2 minute memorized dramatic monologue from a play or musical and one Broadway style song. An accompanist will be provided, but you must bring sheet music. Callbacks will include a dance audition. Cast includes 35 roles for ages 14-21, plus four adult male parts over the age of 21 (Doc, Lt. Schrank, Officer Krupke, and Glad Hand).
